Olive green scarf

6.5 x 72 inches long. I see it as brown but im colour blind but people say its definitely green.

so now im going to the country for a week / 2 weeks / who knows and i have to pack enough yarn to keep me occupied. so im going to have to figure a detailed and time consuming project within a day. tiny needles, pattern and two colours i think.

aborted mock-cable

Its finished
61 inches long, 5 inches wide

Ive now started on a scarf 6.5 inches wide.
It's 2rows rib, 2 rows moss stitch. it sort of makes an 'aborted mock-cable' look. I like it.

Finished another and started another. moss stitch. i dont know how to cover up the other yarn as you creep it up with the knitting. i will have to learn this, because its look horrible with the visible carry.
the next one is red and brown striped. 8 rows red *2 rows brown, 2 rows red, 6 rows brown, 2 rows red, 2 rows brown, 6 rows red rep* 8 rows end colour [hopefully red].
Hopefully that will be finished in the next day or so.

grey/black stripe

finished it.
i think the stripe is up too high. damn it.
and i think it might be a bit heavy too. The light coloured wool was lighter than the black wool despite being the same type which was frustrating. so all 84 inches of it in thick, ribbed wool might be a sauna-scarf.

multi-grey

So I've knitted 4 balls of wool into this scarf. Its Lincraft 'blossom' 50gms. Each ball knits 15 inches. I thought 5 balls would be enough for a full length scarf plus fringe. but not so.... Its only 52 inches long or so.
Maybe i should have knitted it with 6.00mm needles instead. its very very tight knitting. Its a very serious heavy duty antarctic weather scarf.

recently finished scarves

The two scarves i have just finished:

Double knit black and white stripe. I started this a LOOOOONNG time ago and i left it out of exhaustion. but i picked it up against about a week ago and finished it. and i am glad.

And a scarf knitted from some wool i was given from America.
The white is actually cream.
This is a very important scarf as its the first one i have knitted, of my own free will that isnt black/white/red/grey!

Beginnings

I thought I'd start a blog here for my knitting as my knitting adventures are garnering much love on livejournal. so ill do most of it here.

Usually i knit crappy old plain "plastic wool" or that horrible Feathers stuff for something else to do, but the other day i decided to up it from balls of wool that cost no more than $3 to maybe $5. OH EERRR!

So i bought $50 worth of yarn at Lincraft the other day. some of it shown here. its all fake mohair and some weird frizzy stuff. It was to help me get out of a depressive rut.

i started with the Multi-"grey" to knit a scarf. I say "grey" because i think its grey but it could be blue, since im colour blind and not entirely sure of the actual colour.

So i started the scarf that night. 7 inches wide and knitted up to 20 inches long until broke out of whatever stupor i was in for the last week, to realise i was knitting it in stockinette...and of course its curled like a mofo, obviously. which wasnt what i wanted.
so i unravalled it this morning and started again. 1k 1p 1k 1p edges with a window of stockinette.

I like the edges actually...mind you cant see them very well in this photo.
So the next week im holing myself up in my house and knitting for 20 hours of the day as I cant sleep lately. So I might as well spending it knitting, right.

Today is a nice day so im going to sit out on my porch and knit and listen to the people walking past. it perfect. i know people are out there but i don t have to see them.
